Somebody there?

Pitch-black, street lights on, vision compromised, A little late than she expected to return, Just out with some friends for some fun, Heartbeat was racing with every turn, Looking behind constantly to give her mind some clarity, “No one is there, it’s all in my head.”, she told herself on every step. With every stride, she hurried, Not that far from home, she could tell. Made another turn and looked behind, Saw someone and she lost her mind, “Is he following me?”, she asked herself, Not a single optimistic thought came, She made another turn and still, he was right behind, Thought she would be tomorrow’s headline.   “Should I scream? Should I shout?”, “Or should I keep walking out and about?”. She didn’t turn back the rest of the way, Kept reciting Dua’s that all she can say,   Finally, she reached her home and then looked back, No one was there, oh she was glad, She questioned herself, “Was there someone or was it a delusion?”, ...

Lost in Reality

That morning he woke up with the biggest smile, No, it wasn’t the day where he would’ve to walk down the aisle. Mom came knocking with breakfast at his door, Dad had choices for suits, not one, not two, but four. “My son, the valedictorian”, she said, loud and proud, The tears in her eyes were of happiness, no doubt. “We need to leave at 10, which suit do you want to wear?” “Oh stop you, first eat the breakfast, my dear!” “Why can’t I do both?”, he said in his soft modulated voice, Mom began to feed him as dad helped him browse through his choice. As he chewed through his breakfast, he had decided how he’d dress. But his outfit wasn’t his biggest stress, His speech was the thing he was pondering about, His parents assured him that his speech was flawless throughout. “My boy it’s 10.”, Dad cried, “You might miss your speech darling.”, Mom jokingly lied, He hurriedly came down, He looked like he was the most dashing man in town. Oh, what a beautiful...

Short Poems

Me My face unseen, My voice unheard, My tears unwiped, My dreams shattered, My future unclear, My life unlived, Me, unloved. Walking Alone Walking alone, No destination in mind, No reason to look behind, Walking alone, Scared but not afraid, Smiling but not happy,  Walking alone, Hoping for the best, Leaving the past behind, Walking alone... Walking alone. Hope The lights around are so dim, The future looks ever so grim, So many options but still can't make the choice, The mind is tempted to roll the dice, But the heart has lost all its hope, No longer can it cope, Still smiling on the face of this adversity, Hoping to find hope by pure serendipity. Stop I keep on waiting, But you keep on forgetting, I'm thinking about the memories we never created, The memories we had are now faded, I don't like the path we're headed,  This got to stop, I'm completely jaded. Blinded Blinded by jealousy,...

Stripped, Molested, Raped

A girl asked her mom, “Are women treated right?” Mother replied, “Yes dear! There are tons of ‘Women Rights’” Soon she moved to the city for her further studies, And everything seemed all right. Mom told her, “We are always there for you, just a call away.” Dad told her, “I know you will make us proud.” She was doing so well, everyone was glad, Soon she moved with her friends in a beautiful flat. One day she was a little late to return home, Pitch dark, all silent, she heard some people moan, She knew something bad was going to happen so she tried to flee, Well before that someone jumped on her and said, “I got thee.” Oh, what they did to that poor girl I cannot express, Their stories to their friends they confessed, They even made up a video and posted it online, The girl was gone for a few weeks without a sign, Parents and friends worried sick, tried every means, The police, the public, everyone they tried to reach, A few weeks later her body ...

Beloved!

So near, but yet so far, I hope you are happy wherever you are, That straight hair, and those curly lashes, Whoever sees them, their heart crashes, Talking about something pretty, your smiling face comes to my mind, I just want to say, “Hey there! You are one of a kind.” Your soul is pure and you have a beautiful mind, Even in a crowd, everyone you outshine. There is something about the way you talk, Oh God! How amazing is your voice? Try to ignore... Pfft, that isn’t even a choice, I will never come close and reveal my heart, I am going to hold it in like in a lift you hold a fart, I am simple and hideous, You are dashing and pleasant, You have those sparkling eyes, Just to admire them from far I will try. Well, opposites attract, people say, Seeing you makes me glad that I am not gay. Someday, I hope you will notice me, That day, I might open my heart to thee.

Assumptions!

You’re good, I’m bad. You’re happy, I am sad. You’re famous, I’m unknown. You can judge me, I can’t. Your friends are the best, Mine, well not so much. Your family taught you correct etiquettes, Mine didn’t. I’m Black, You’re white. You’re superior, I’m inferior. These are a few things we assume about someone we dislike, No second thoughts about anything and we are like take a hike mike. Be careful about the things you say, Might make you look tough but might hurt others feelings, Be considerate, be gentle, Spread love, not hate, Treat everyone equal, treat everyone right, Else without friends, end up, you might.

My Swansong?

The ignoring game is going too strong, No one knows what’s wrong, This is a disaster, it is taking too long. Could this be my swansong? If that is the case let me answer some FAQs, Let’s not go through all but few, “How do you write poems?” Well, I just use words to form a sentence, With a little or no intention of any kind of vengeance, Then I carefully choose the last word of my line, No special reason, but just to make it rhyme. “Why do you write poems?” Well, it is an easier way to express, To flood out all of your distress, Some of the poems might be so vague, But trust me, none are fake. “What do you write about in poems?” Well, I try to write about life, In my case, which is at the tip of a knife, Come on guys try writing, it’s fun, Do send me a copy when you are done.
